DNA and vision
About us
Kunsthal Spritten is a venue made for its time and its place. A venue with one aim: to unlock the power and potential of contemporary art for more people. Focusing on contemporary art of international calibre and cutting across disciplines and media, we are creating a house that brings together tangible and intangible cultural heritage, connecting past, present and future.
Cloud City is a prominent and striking part of the building and of the future visitor experience. Rising more than 30 metres from the former coal yard, the artwork connects to the listed boiler hall’s iconic red-tiled roof.
Created specifically for Kunsthal Spritten by internationally acclaimed artist Tomás Saraceno (b. 1973), the work takes the form of a colourful cumulus cloud. Visitors will be able to explore and spend time inside this spectacular immersive installation, which will be the artist’s largest permanent work to date.
Kunsthal Spritten is keenly interested in how art can be present and poignantly meaningful in everyday life, and in what can happen when art is woven into lived life and appears in places we already know.
That’s why we collaborate beyond the arts sector, building partnerships and alliances that reach into the world around us. Together with others, we aim to help create change that makes tomorrow better than yesterday.
