Why ECO MODE? 

Our digital lives have a footprint. The internet runs on physical spaces full of servers that must be continuously cooled to avoid overheating. That uses large amounts of electricity and water, contributing to CO2 emissions.

That’s why we’ve added the ECO MODE function to our website. It won’t save the world, but it does make the footprint of each visit more visible, and smaller. With ECO MODE on, you use less data and computing power. That translates into lower energy use and a reduced climate impact while still bringing you the essential functionality you need.

ECO MODE is our way of taking responsibility for the digital aspects of our climate accounts, and of inviting our users to explore a more sustainable way of being online. The function is user-controlled: you can switch it on or off depending on the experience you want.
