Iris Gold concert – Support
Iris Gold is currently featured on Danish radio with the single ‘Boys Boys Boys’ released in collaboration with PlanBørnefonden to support the fight to end violence. The accompanying music video was filmed in Zimbabwe, and Iris Gold performed an acoustic version of the song on the popular Danish TV show Aftenshowet when it was released back in May.
In 2019, Iris gold was nominated at the Danish Music Awards as Best New Live Act. That same year she released her acclaimed debut album Planet Cool to glowing reviews, including four stars in The Guardian. That was followed by a European festival tour and offers to support established stars such as Doja Cat, Taylor Swift and Blur. In 2022, she collaborated with Dave Stewart of Eurythmics on the follow-up album Woman, which received, among other things, five stars in the widely respected Danish music journal Gaffa. Tonight, she is sure to raise even noma’s famously solid roof.
Evren Tekinoktay - artist of the night
Iris Gold performs in noma’s Private Dining Room against a backdrop of artworks by Danish-Turkish artist Evren Tekinoktay (b. 1972). Tekinoktay is known from the world of Danish art and fashion alike. She held her first solo exhibition in 2002, and in 2003 she founded the lingerie boutique Tekinoktay Finest Lingerie in Copenhagen, featuring, among other things, her own lingerie and jewellery line. She has since exhibited widely in Denmark and internationally.
Margrethe Vestager og Susanne Bier
Two of Denmark’s most charismatic – and internationally successful – women meet at noma for a conversation about women in positions of power, gender equality, and what Denmark looks like in the eyes of someone who has spent many years abroad.
After ten years as a notable, influential and hard-working Executive Vice-President and Commissioner for Competition in the EU, Margrethe Vestager is now returning to Denmark and stepping away from European politics for the time being. Before her time in the EU, Vestager led the party Radikale Venstre from 2007 to 2014, and served as a minister and Deputy Prime Minister in three governments under Poul Nyrup Rasmussen and Helle Thorning-Schmidt. She recently published the book Vestagers Verden about who she is, what drives her, and what comes next after so many years in Danish and international politics.
Susanne Bier is currently celebrating yet another success as Denmark’s most internationally acclaimed film director, this time with the Netflix series The Perfect Couple starring Nicole Kidman. After major Danish box-office and TV hits such as Den eneste ene, Elsker dig for evigt and Brødre, Bier’s career peaked when she received an Oscar in 2011 – the first Danish woman to do so – for Hævnen (In a Better World). Since then, she has created major international successes including the series The Night Manager and The Undoing, as well as the thriller Bird Box, which is among Netflix’s four most-streamed films of all time. She has worked with countless international stars, including Halle Berry, Benicio Del Toro, Pierce Brosnan, Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, Sandra Bullock, Hugh Grant, Viola Davis, Michelle Pfeiffer, Gillian Anderson, Hugh Laurie, Tom Hollander, Olivia Colman and Tom Hiddleston.
